A ₹5,000 loan on a PAN card is a small unsecured personal loan for which PAN is one of the required identity and credit-verification documents. PAN alone does not qualify you for the loan. You can apply for this kind of loan online through the RupeeRedee app. However, the lender, FincFriends Private Limited, also checks your KYC, verifiable income, bank account details, existing obligations and credit history before it decides whether to approve your application.
Can you get a ₹5,000 loan using only your PAN card?
No. PAN is required for a ₹5,000 loan application, but it is not enough on its own. A PAN (Permanent Account Number) is a 10-character alphanumeric ID issued by the Income Tax Department. The lender uses PAN to verify your identity details and obtain your credit information with your consent. Eligibility and the approved amount depend on the complete assessment, not on possession of a PAN card.
A complete application also requires Aadhaar-based KYC (an online identity check where you confirm your Aadhaar with a one-time password sent to your phone), a bank account in your own name, and an active mobile number linked to your Aadhaar and PAN for verification. The lender also assesses your income, existing repayments, banking activity and credit history. Approval is not guaranteed.
RupeeRedee personal loans are issued by FincFriends Private Limited, an RBI-registered NBFC. RupeeRedee manages the digital application journey, while FincFriends Private Limited sanctions and disburses the loan, receives repayments and reports the account to credit bureaus. The loan is unsecured, so you do not pledge collateral.
How much can you borrow and for how long?
RupeeRedee offers personal loans from ₹2,000 to ₹2,50,000, with tenures of 91 to 720 days. A ₹5,000 application is available only if that amount falls within the approved product range and you meet the eligibility criteria.
| Parameter | RupeeRedee |
|---|---|
| Minimum amount | ₹2,000 |
| Maximum amount | ₹2,50,000 |
| Tenure | 91 to 720 days |
People also search for PAN card loans of ₹1,000, ₹20,000 and ₹50,000. The table below compares these amounts with the RupeeRedee range. If an amount falls outside it, RupeeRedee does not offer that loan.
| Amount | Available from RupeeRedee |
|---|---|
| ₹1,000 | No, the minimum is ₹2,000 |
| ₹5,000 | Yes |
| ₹20,000 | Yes |
| ₹50,000 | Yes |
PAN is used for identity and credit verification in the same way, whether you apply for ₹5,000 or ₹50,000. However, the amount you are approved for depends on your income, existing EMIs, credit profile and ability to repay. The lender checks your full application for every loan amount, big or small.
How much does a ₹5,000 loan cost?
The total cost of a ₹5,000 loan includes interest and applicable fees. Interest on a RupeeRedee loan is charged at an annualised rate of 27.6% to 57.6% (2.3% to 4.8% a month; full cost as APR: 32% to 64%) and applied to the principal for the days you hold the loan. A processing fee from 1.5% of the loan amount, GST included, is deducted at disbursal, and a service charge from 0.55% a month, GST included, is added to the EMIs.
Your Key Fact Statement (KFS) will show the full cost of the loan, with interest and all fees combined into the Annual Percentage Rate (APR), before you e-sign.
The basic calculation is:
Principal + interest + applicable fees and GST = total repayment.
For a short-tenure loan, the KFS provides the clearest comparison because it combines the interest and applicable charges into the APR.
The worked example for a ₹5,000 loan over 3 months, at the rates of RupeeRedee's representative example (interest 3% a month, processing fee 1.5%, service charge 0.55% a month) is below:
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Principal | ₹5,000 |
| Tenure | 3 months |
| Interest | ₹450 |
| Processing fee | ₹75, deducted at disbursal |
| GST on fee | ₹11, included in the fee |
| Total repayable | ₹5,533 in 3 EMIs of ₹1,844 (includes the ₹83 service charge) |
| Annual Percentage Rate (APR), all charges included | Within RupeeRedee's 32% to 64% range; your exact APR is in the Key Fact Statement |
If a payment is missed, these charges apply: a bounce charge for a failed auto-debit and a late payment charge, both stated in your Key Fact Statement.
Why can a small, short loan have a high APR?
A fee that looks small in rupees takes up a large share of a ₹5,000 principal. When that cost is annualised over a short tenure, the APR can be much higher than the headline interest rate. This is why comparing total repayable and the annualised cost tells you more than comparing interest rates.
What will you see before signing?
RupeeRedee provides a KFS before you accept the loan. It states the annualised interest rate, APR, processing fee, applicable GST, other charges, repayment schedule and grievance contact in a standardised format. If something in it is unclear, ask before you accept.
Can the disclosed charges change after you accept the loan?
The charges that apply to your loan are set out in the KFS and agreement. A loan you have already taken keeps the terms you agreed to. If a charge changes, the change applies only going forward, and it is announced in advance.
Who can apply for a ₹5,000 personal loan?
To apply through the RupeeRedee app, you need to meet three basic criteria: your age (20 or older), your residency (Indian resident with a valid PAN and Aadhaar), and a source of income that can be verified. Meeting these criteria allows you to apply but does not guarantee approval.
What is the difference between no credit history and bad credit history?
These are two different situations. A thin or new credit file contains little or no repayment history. In that case, the lender may rely on other evidence, such as regular inflows into your bank account and how steady your income is month to month. In contrast, a bad credit history shows missed payments, defaults or other adverse credit behaviour. A poor repayment record can make approval more difficult. Neither situation guarantees approval.
Can gig workers, couriers and freelancers apply without salary slips?
Yes, eligible applicants can apply even if they do not receive a conventional salary slip. In that case, the lender can review regular platform payouts, client transfers and other verifiable bank credits. Cash income that does not appear in the bank account is harder to verify.
Can you get the loan without income proof?
Honestly, no. Even if you do not have a salary slip, the lender still checks your income. It may use your bank statement or another accepted income record instead. Be careful with any loan app that promises approval without checking whether you can repay.
What should you check on your PAN before applying?
PAN errors can interrupt identity verification even when you meet the other requirements. Before applying, use the official Income Tax e-filing portal to check whether your PAN is active and whether your name and date of birth match the PAN database.
Inoperative PAN. A PAN becomes inoperative most often because it was never linked with Aadhaar. An inoperative PAN can fail the lender's verification step outright. You can check your PAN status on the Income Tax e-filing portal and complete the Aadhaar linking there if it is missing.
Name and date-of-birth mismatches. Your name and date of birth should be consistent across PAN, Aadhaar, bank and application records. A spelling difference, changed surname, expanded initial or date mismatch can delay verification.
Typical cases:
- Initials on one document and your full name on another.
- A surname changed after marriage on Aadhaar but not on PAN, or the other way round.
- A different spelling of the same name across documents.
- A date of birth with the day and month swapped, or an older record with only the year correct.
PAN or Aadhaar linked to an old mobile number. Aadhaar OTP-based KYC requires access to the mobile number registered with Aadhaar. Update that number through an official Aadhaar channel before applying if you can no longer receive the OTP.
Bank account in your own name. The loan can only be paid into an account in your own name. A joint account or a parent's account is a common reason the loan payout stops, even after everything else has been approved.
Can someone take a loan on your PAN?
A PAN copy alone is not enough to complete a legitimate digital-loan application, but stolen PAN, Aadhaar, banking details and OTP access can be misused together for identity fraud. Warning signs include an unknown loan account or enquiry on your credit report, or collection calls about a loan you did not take.
If this happens, start with three steps:
- Dispute the entry with the credit bureau that shows it.
- Dispute it with the lender named in the report.
- Report the fraud through the national cybercrime reporting portal or helpline.
A genuine lender will not ask you to disclose your OTP, PIN or password to an agent over a call or chat. Do not send PAN or Aadhaar images to an unverified contact, and do not pay money to a personal UPI ID to release a loan.
A genuine digital lender's website should show:
- The name of the regulated lender that actually issues the loan, not just a brand name.
- Customer care contacts and the grievance redressal officer's details.
- A list of the lending service providers it works with.
- Links to the RBI complaint system and the Sachet portal.
- A privacy policy explaining what data is collected and why.
Red flags:
- No named lender anywhere in the app or on the website.
- Requests for OTPs, PAN photos or Aadhaar copies through calls or chat.
- Pressure to decide right now or offers that "expire today".
- A request to transfer money to "unlock" or "release" the loan.
- No summary of charges and annualised cost before you sign.
- A request to pay the loan into an account that is not yours.
Which documents are required, and how does the application work?
A ₹5,000 loan application with RupeeRedee requires a short list of documents:
- PAN.
- Aadhaar, for e-KYC by OTP.
- Details of a bank account in your own name, or a statement from it.
- An active mobile number linked to your Aadhaar and PAN.
RupeeRedee may request additional information during assessment.
The application follows five steps:
- Enter your details. Your PAN is verified at this step.
- Complete Aadhaar e-KYC with the OTP sent to your linked mobile number.
- Link your bank account or share a statement so your income can be checked.
- Review the KFS, which shows the APR, total repayment and every applicable charge.
- Set up the auto-debit mandate and e-sign the agreement. The money is paid only into your own account.
How do you repay a RupeeRedee loan?
You repay a RupeeRedee loan according to the schedule in your agreement, in monthly EMIs over 91 to 720 days. The amount is collected by auto-debit from your bank account on the due date. Your terms summary states whether you can repay early and on what terms.
What happens if you cannot pay on time? On the due date, your EMI is auto-debited from your bank account. If your account balance is low, the debit fails, and the bounce and late payment charges listed in the cost section apply. The missed payment is also reported to the credit bureaus, where future lenders will see it. If you expect difficulty, contact the lender through an official support channel before the due date.
Why might your ₹5,000 loan application be rejected?
A loan application can be rejected for several reasons. Four common ones are:
- Your PAN, Aadhaar and bank details do not match.
- The lender cannot verify your income.
- An auto-debit recently bounced on another loan.
- Your existing EMIs already take up too much of your income.
Fix the easiest problem first. A spelling mistake in your name, a PAN that is not linked to Aadhaar or an old mobile number can usually be corrected in a few days. Income and existing debts take longer to fix, but they matter more.
Avoid applying to several apps one after another, as it rarely helps. Each formal application can add a hard enquiry to your credit report, and other lenders can see many recent enquiries. So fix the identifiable issue first and then apply again.
